Bugs Tan is a full time professional inventor with 13 inventions filed in his name. Some of the inventions have been successfully commercialized.

He was winner of the National Innovation Award presented to him by the Hon Prime Minister in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation for the excellent invention of the Light Weight Grating System. A metal floor system used in oil platform and industrial factories. This system is 40% lighter than common grating. It also comes along with safety feature to reduce the number of injuries.

He is also an Adjunct Lecturer for University Teknologi Petronas. Whence he is also an Adjunct Professor for USCI. There, he shares his real life experiences as a practitioner of an innovator to the students. He is often invited to MMU, Taylor’s College, MARA, UTAR to share his thoughts on creative and innovation. Bugs enjoyed parting his
knowledge to young students. He hopes these students will turned into a generation of capable engineers and scientists to thrust this country forward.

Bugs also conduct Invention workshop for the benefit of our school children. Here he'll train children to be creative and invent things on the spot. During such workshop, young children aged 8 to 15 have plenty of fun and hands-on experience in inventing new stuffs.
