Professor
Tovstiga’s career spans 25 years as industry practitioner,
management educator, author and consultant. A national
of both Canada and Germany, he completed undergraduate
and graduate studies in chemical engineering at the
University of Ottawa, Canada, and the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst, USA, respectively, before
completing a doctorate in engineering sciences at the
ETH Zurich in Switzerland. He then joined the Central
Research Laboratory of Bayer AG in Leverkusen, Germany.
He spent the first 12 years of his career in fundamental
and applied research in the German chemical and pharmaceutical
industry before returning to academia to research, teach
and consult in the area of technology strategy and innovation
management.
He
subsequently obtained an MBA at the University of Twente
(Netherlands); he is an alumnus of the International
Teachers Programme (London Business School, UK). Prior
to joining Henley in a full-time faculty position George
headed an internal management consultancy practice at
ABB (Switzerland) and consulted for Arthur D. Little
(Switzerland) Ltd’s Strategic Growth and Innovation
Practice.
His
current research, teaching and consulting focus is in
the areas of strategy and innovation management. He
has authored over 50 peer reviewed publications in the
area of strategic innovation and frequently speaks on
the topic at conferences around the globe.
